Ten years of organising African law firms

SmartCase Manager began [in year] in Kampala, when [origin story — the first firm, the problem observed, why Regnant built it — PM to supply]. We didn’t set out to build “legal tech.” We set out to answer one managing partner’s question — “how much is this firm actually owed?” — and discovered that almost no firm on the continent could answer it.

Ten years later, SmartCase runs 60+ firms across [N] countries. We have never bought a customer: every firm arrived because another firm sent them. We’re proud of that, and slightly embarrassed it took us this long to build a proper website.

We are a product of Regnant Software Limited — a Ugandan software company that also builds SmartRent Manager and SmartLoans Manager. We build for African business realities: mobile money, intermittent connectivity, multi-currency practices, and the statutory quirks of each country we serve.

How we work

  • We answer the phone.
  • We under-promise on security and over-deliver on support.
  • We measure our success in our clients’ collections, not our sign-ups.
